“Not meaning to, but meaning to”* Lonchibon launches the “Torta del Chavo”

At Lonchibon we decided to include this entertaining and fun character because both he and his ‘torta’

are very popular among Mexican children and youngsters

Mexico, D.F. March 27 of 2007.- It had to be “El Chavo del Ocho”! ... Finally and by means of the Lonchibon line, the “Chavo del Ocho” shares his ham ‘Torta’ with the Mexican public. This charismatic and popular character, famous for his pranks, witty and funny remarks and his classic “torta de jamon”, joins the extensive line of products that Lonchibon has on the market.

Francisco Fuente, Marketing Director at Lonchibon, commented that “At Lonchibon we decided to include this entertaining and fun character because both he and his ‘torta’ are very popular among Mexican children and youngsters“. He added that “With the ‘Chavo’s’ new ‘torta’, Lonchibon penetrates the “torta” market at the national level offering its consumers a quality product with great added value viewing that it is being backed by such an important character”.

The delicious “torta del Chavo” is prepared with three slices of ham, cheese and mayonnaise, that comes together with a package including ‘chipotle’ sauce. In addition in each package, one of the ten stickers portraying images of the animated series can be found.

At the national level, this product can be found at schools, convenience and retail stores at a suggested price of $10.00 pesos. It shall be supported by point-of-sale materials, radio ads and tasting events. The publicity agency in charge of the advertising was McCann Erickson.

*Very popular and well-known expression of renowned Mexican comedy entertainment television (and printed) hero “El Chavo del Ocho” [(“The Channel Eight Kid), broadcast not only in Mexico but throughout Latin America, the US and more], the meaning of which is precisely: “I didn’t want to do it, but I went ahead and did it”.
