Bimbo Chihuahua plant: the best Wendy’s supplier in Latin America

The efforts put forth by everyone who works at this plant

to produce in compliance with strict quality standards, for the benefit of our customers and consumers, are now being rewarded

Mexico City, July 7th, 2005 .-The Bimbo Chihuahua Plant was acknowledged as Supplier of the Year and Wendy’s International Best Supplier for Latin America, due to its consistently high product quality and the excellent service it has provided to this restaurant chain in the Northern part of Mexico since 2001.

“Grupo Bimbo has always considered quality to be its most important product characteristic as well as an essential company value. Because of this, the efforts put forth by everyone who works at this plant to produce in compliance with strict quality standards, for the benefit of our customers and consumers, are now being rewarded. It has not been in vain that the results of our Quality Systems Audits have consistently proven our compliance with the highest quality management and administration standards. This earned us the ISO 9000 – 2000 certification.

We are convinced that the true owners of our company, the ones we owe ourselves to, are our customers and consumers, to whom we must deliver healthy, nutritional, high quality products. Let us recall that our Plant operates according to the most stringent food safety standards. It has been endorsed by the American Institute of Baking, which guarantees the quality and safety of all our products”, assured Vidal Borbolla.

On his part, Roberto R. Machado said that Wendy’s acknowledgement is due to the fact that “… in the sanitation and production audits, the Chihuahua plant earned the highest scores in Latin America while, at the same time, it put out the best and most consistent final product during 2004”. He also emphasized, “Our continuing efforts to offer very high quality products allowed Wendy’s to find in Bimbo a supplier that shares the same service and quality standards. They have always worked very well with us and have met our increasing needs resulting from our growth, always providing excellent service and quality products that satisfy Wendy’s franchise needs”.

Bimbo consistently carries out external quality certification programs and processes in all the food, sanitation, production and environmental areas, in order to provide proof of our business sustainability, our concern for the health of our consumers and the safety of our personnel. The Company has earned “Clean Industry Certificates” awarded by PROFEPA; has over 162 processes that have been awarded ISO-9000 Certification by Det Norske Veritas, and was the first bakery business in America to receive the International HACCP (Hazards Analysis and Critical Control Points) Certification.

On behalf of all those who work in the operations, commercial and service areas, within the territory where the Chihuahua Plant operates, Plant Manager Juan Manuel Vidal Borbolla gave thanks for the prize received from the hands of Roberto R. Machado, Wendy’s International Quality Assurance Manager.
