Grupo Bimbo Is Honored As One Of The Most Ethical Companies In The World By The Ethisphere Institute

Grupo Bimbo is the first Mexican Company of the World's Most Ethical Companies list drafted annually by the Ethisphere Institute since 2007

Companies in the World's Most Ethical Companies list have to qualify in aspects such as ethics and compliance, corporate citizenship and responsibility, governance and leadership, innovation and reputation.

Mexico City, March 13, 2017.- Grupo Bimbo is honored as one of the most ethical entrepreneurial organization in the world, thus becoming the first Mexican Company to be listed as 2017 World's Most Ethical Companies list made up by 124 companies in the world.

The World's Most Ethical Companies is a list drafted annually by the Ethisphere Institute since 2007 without interruptions, with the purpose of honoring outstanding companies from all over the world for promoting ethical business standards and practices internally, enabling managers and associates to make good choices, and shaping future industry guidelines in terms ethics.

In the 2017 edition, Grupo Bimbo besides being the first Mexican company to be one of the Most Ethical Companies, is one of the few food companies to be part of this list.

The Ethisphere Institute rates companies with its proprietary rating methodology called Ethics Quotient (EQ) that weighs the scores reached by companies evaluated in five categories: Ethics and compliance that has the highest weight with 35%, Corporate citizenship and responsibility with 20%, Culture of Ethics, also with 20%, Governance with 15% and Leadership, innovation and reputation contributing with 10%.

We have also seen how companies known as most ethical in the world respond to these challenges. They invest in their local communities all over the world, adopt diversity and inclusion strategies and focus on the long-term as a sustainable commercial advantage,” explained Timothy Erblich, CEO of the Ethisphere Institute.

It is fundamental to take note that according to historic data, companies ethically outstanding, have surpassed their competitors regarding financial results, which –states the Ethisphere Institute– demonstrates the connection between best ethical practices and returns valued in the market.
