It is the third Ecological Sales Center inaugurated by Grupo Bimbo within the Mexican Republic.

Due to its sustainable operation, the Ecological Sales Center’s vehicles will avoid the emission of more than 400 tons of CO2 into the atmosphere.

Apodaca, Nuevo León, February 23, 2016.Today, Grupo Bimbo inaugurated the Ecological Sales Center San Nicolás – Apodaca in Nuevo León, the third to start operations in the Mexican Republic, after the ones in Mexico City and Guadalajara, Jalisco.

Aware that climate change is one of the biggest challenges that our planet is facing, once again Grupo Bimbo reaffirms its commitment with the environment through the incorporation of 83 electric vehicles powered by wind energy operating from this Sales Center. The clean energy for these vehicles will come from the Piedra Larga wind farm in the State of Oaxaca, the largest in the world dedicated to serve an enterprise in the food industry.

Under the leadership of Daniel Servitje, Grupo Bimbo that recently signed the Paris Pledge for Action now adds to its initiatives the San Nicolás - Apodaca Ecological Sales Center, which now embodies the best practices on natural resources management, water and power savings, waste management, and the use of renewable energy sources.

The fleet of electric vehicles will distribute the Company’s products all over the Municipalities of San Nicolás de los Garza and Apodaca, thus avoiding the emission of over 400 tons of CO2 to the atmosphere.

Miguel Ángel Espinoza, President of Bimbo México, highlighted that this Center is part of the programs that the enterprise is implementing to fulfill its objective of reducing its operation’s environmental footprint, and added: “I ask you to do more for the environment; to never settle, and that we continue proposing innovative solutions, so that our operations become cleaner and sustainable.”
