The following year, the sale of Mrs. Baird’s Bread to the group was consolidated. A US bakery, the legendary Ninnie L. Baird of Fort Worth (Texas) founded in 1908. It included eleven plants, 3000 associates and was Texas’s leading baked-goods company.
But the most important and wide-reaching Bimbo purchase was the 2002 acquisition of all western North American assets at the Canadian company George Weston Ltd., owners of brands such as Orowheat, Entenmanns, Thomas English Muffins and Boboli pizzas.
