Tips for your resume

How can you improve your resume?

Prepare and customize your resume before sending it. Here are some tips from experts in the field, which we collect so you can improve yours.

Your resume is your cover letter. Before sending it to any company, read these tips so you can create yours in an attractive and impeccable way.

According to some sources consulted, recruiters usually only look at the resume for 10 seconds. Therefore, we recommend that you consider the following when creating your own.

  1. Information you must include:

Name, email, and contact phone numbers.

Do not include your full address, marital status, national identifiers, date of birth or age.

  1. Keep it simple.

The resume should not have more than two pages. Focus on the most important events in the professional field and on your strengths.

You can include a first sentence explaining what you do best and how long you’ve been doing it.

Example: Executive manager with more than 15 years of experience in sales and business management. Enthusiastic about improving procedures, generating new revenue, and expanding the customer portfolio.

  1. Skills and competencies.

Use examples to demonstrate your remarkable strengths, achievements, and experiences.

  1. Work experience.

Talk only about your last three jobs or the last 10 years of your working life.

  1. Academic background.

Focus on talking about your last studies, certifications and courses that could be relevant to the position you are applying for.

  1. Customize your resume.

Prepare your resume considering each open position you want to apply to.

  1. Watch your spelling.

Since it’s part of a first impression, avoid mistakes that could disqualify you.

  1. What should you avoid?

Don’t exaggerate your achievements, avoid talking about basic computer skills, and don’t lie about your abilities or provide irrelevant information.

Before submitting your resume, double-check that all the information is correct. It is important that you are satisfied with the final result.

If you include a photo of yourself, it must be recent
