Creating awareness in the population on the importance of preserving the habitat of the Monarch butterfly
is one of Grupo Bimbos objectives in supporting this film production
Bimbo, a socially responsible company, committed to the protection of the environment, supported the filming of the IMAX 3D format El Vuelo de las Monarca movie, (The Flight of the Monarch Butterfly) a tale of the wonderful yearly migration of the Monarch butterfly.
Each fall season, thousands of butterflies migrate from Canada to spend the winter months in the sanctuaries located in Mexico, particularly in the states of Michoacán and the Estado de México
The movie produced by SK Films, a Canadian company, shows the incredible round journey of these insects, during which, they overcome tough natural and man-related obstacles. It also tells the story of a scientist who, for 40 years, worked searching for the mysterious and secret destination of the Monarch butterfly.
One of the purposes of Bimbo in supporting this production is to contribute raising the awareness of the population on the importance of preserving the Monarch butterfly and its habitat, both in Mexico, as well as in the territories it crosses during its migration. Part of the worldwide box office revenue resulting from showing the film will be devoted to the implementation of environmental protection actions in the Monarch Butterfly Biosphere Reserve. Reforestamos México, a civil association created by Grupo Bimbo in 2002, will support the Fondo Mexicano para la Conservación de la Naturaleza (Mexican Fund for the Preservation of Nature, FMCN for its acronym in Spanish) in this endeavour.
The film is to be screened next October 12th in Mexico City at the Papalote Children’s Museum.
