Grupo Bimbo, the world’s largest baked goods producer, was further recognized as an “exceptional business” in four categories as granted by the Communications Board and the Quality-Fomentation Institute. These are certainly a reaffirmation of GB’s commitment and solidarity with Mexico and its people during hard times associated with impacts from the Covid-19 pandemia.
The Exceptional Businesses recognition was granted to organizations and institutions that have carried out extraordinary practices when it has come to agile responses to the pandemic in five categories; specifically response and adaptation strategies; social commitment and support; new ways of working; digital tools adoption; and innovative business models.
Grupo Bimbo received “Exceptional Business” recognition in the first four categories and a recognition of Good Practice in the fifth, making the bakery one of the two sole businesses out of one hundred to receive the highest distinction in four categories.
The selection of winning practices was conducted by a Prize Council made up of representatives from Mexico’s Business Coordination Council; the Mexican Business Council; Coparmex; Concanaco Servytur; Concamin; the Communication Council and the Quality-Fomentation Institute, all of whom pledged to have made an objective and transparent decision based on the evaluation team’s proposal, the practices’ merits and a consensus on the part of the Prize Council.
The recognition was accepted by Armando Cantú, Grupo Bimbo México Persons Director who pointed out that
“The challenges the pandemia presented strengthened us, drove us to reinvent ourselves and to change our ways of thinking and acting to respond to our peoples, clients and consumers’ incredible compromise; they carried out opportune as well as decisive actions that allowed us to respond to the emergency and support Mexico’s economic reactivation.”
