As part of its commitment towards the environment, Grupo Bimbo announced that during the next four years, starting 2020, it will increase its electric delivery vehicle fleet in Mexico by 4,000 units, which represents an investment of $ 2,800 million pesos.

To achieve this goal, Moldex, and affiliate of Grupo Bimbo which, since 2012 works on the engineering and production of electric vehicles, will be in charge of providing 1,000 units each year for four years, which will be integrated into different delivery routes in the country, thus reaffirming the company’s wager in favor of the development of innovative solutions in favor of the planet.

It’s important to note that these delivery trucks are wind-powered, which means that they recharge their batteries with clean energy that comes from the Piedra Larga wind in Oaxaca, achieving a virtuous and sustainable cycle.

“In 2012 we began planning and designing what would be Grupo Bimbo’s first electric vehicle. Today, thanks to the talent of the Mexican engineers from our affiliate company Moldex, in Lerma, State of Mexico, we have a distribution fleet of over 400 vehicles, and we are ready to take this great step towards increasing by 4,000 units the sustainable distribution to stores throughout Mexico, which will operate without leaving a footprint in the planet”, said Javier Gonzalez Franco, Deputy Director-General of Grupo Bimbo.

With actions like this, Grupo Bimbo continues promoting initiatives in favor of the environment and working every day towards building a sustainable, highly productive and completely human company.

It is important to note that these distribution trucks are “wind powered,” meaning that their batteries are recharged using clean energy generated by the Piedra Larga wind farm, located in Oaxaca, México, thus closing a virtuous and sustainable cycle.
