Eighteen years ago, the United Nations proclaimed December 9th as the International Anti-Corruption Day to raise awareness of this phenomenon and disseminate the work of the Convention in combating and preventing corruption. But what is the definition of this social phenomenon?
It refers to a problem that affects societies in all countries, as it disrupts the social processes that benefit their growth and development.
On this day we try to raise awareness against any act of bribery. As Antonio Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations, mentioned, "corruption breeds more corruption and fosters a destructive culture of impunity".
At Grupo Bimbo we have always been guided by our beliefs to act with integrity every day and comply with policies and procedures by thinking, saying, and doing the right thing.
In this sense, we put our bit of flour in doing business with integrity, honesty, and rectitude as indicated in our Code of Ethics and Global Integrity Policy. These two principles guide us to act correctly in the social and commercial environment.
We remain firm because in the company we have zero-tolerance with lack of integrity, acts of corruption, bribery, and any type of crime.
Daniel Servitje, president and CEO of Grupo Bimbo, said that for the company ethics is much more than a commitment, as it is part of our DNA and our people. It’s how we carry out our activities every day.
We can proudly say that each of the associates complies with these codes. For the fifth year in a row, The Ethisphere Institute, recognized us as one of the Most Ethical Companies in the World, due to our Regulatory Behavior, Social Responsibility, Ethical Culture, Corporate Governance and Leadership, Innovation, and Reputation.
In this way, we want to continue traveling the route together and Nourish a Better World.
