2012 Bimbo Pan~American Nutrition, Food Science and Technology Award

The prize total amount is $56,000 USD divided into eight awards to be presented in the field of Nutrition and eight in the field of Food Technology.

Grupo Bimbo announced today the official call for participants to the 2012 Bimbo Pan-American Nutrition, Food Science and Technology Award, established since 2004 and aimed at promoting and supporting innovation and research in these fields, both in Mexico and throughout the Americas.

Dr. Patricia Villalobos, Director of Innovation at Grupo Bimbo said “this Award serves as an incentive and special recognition to outstanding research work, and contributes to reaffirm the track record of leading researchers in the areas of Nutrition and Food Technology, opening their doors to continuity and best results”.

The Bimbo Pan-American Nutrition, Food Science and Technology Award is part of the company's initiative “Committed to your Health" Program, created in 2003 in response to the company's interest in improving the health and well being of consumers throughout the different countries it operates in. This program is based on 5 initiatives which are aligned with the World Health Organization's Global Strategy on Diet, Physical Activity, and Health.

Dr. Villalobos informed that the call for participants in the Fifth Edition of the Award, will remain open until August 17, 2012, adding that “it seeks to create stronger links between the industry and the world of academia to contribute to the development of new technology platforms, as well as increased innovative products in the market and overall development of society".
