It is with a great sense of sadness and profound gratitude for the legacy that he has left that Grupo Bimbo would like to communicate the passing of Don Lorenzo Servitje Sendra, one of the company’s founders, who passed away today, in Mexico City, at the age of 98.
On behalf of the entire Group, we would like to express our deepest condolences to his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family and friends.
Don Lorenzo Servitje founded Bimbo in 1945, alongside Jaime Jorba Sendra, José Trinidad Mata, Jaime Sendra Grimau and Alfonso Velasco Pérez. The company began with 38 associates, the first of whom was his brother Roberto, ten vehicles, one brand and four products. He held the posts of Manager, Director and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Grupo Bimbo. Since 1994 Don Lorenzo has left his management position and his seat on the Board of Directors of the company, leaving the leadership of Grupo Bimbo under Daniel Servitje and his management team. Daniel and his team will continue running the business in accordance with the philosophy and values that Don Lorenzo established and promoted throughout his life.
Seventy-one years after it was founded, Grupo Bimbo still promotes the values and philosophy that Don Lorenzo himself instilled in the company.
We will always remember him as the great man, leader and source of inspiration he was to each and every one of us, and we would like to take this opportunity to celebrate the legacy he has left behind.
