Grupo Bimbo celebrated today the 25th anniversary of its Bimbo plant in San Luis Potosí with the presence of Gustavo Puente Orozco, Secretary of Economic Development of the State of San Luis Potosí; Delia Guerrero Coronado, Federal Legislator of the LXIII Legislature; Ricardo Estrada, President of Mexico’s Entrepreneurs Social Union (Unión Social de Empresarios de México) in San Luis Potosí and Soledad Aguilar Martínez, member of Coparmex San Luis Potosí among others.

Inaugurated in June 1991, with four production lines and 80 associates, this plant now has an outstanding participation and competitiveness in the State. It currently has 9 lines that produce over 4,500 tons of product of the highest quality per month, such as Pound Cakes, Wheat Flour Tortillas, Buns, Bread, Toast Bread, Thins and Bread Crumbs. Bimbo San Luis offers more than 1,200 direct jobs between production and sales.

Bimbo San Luis carries out various actions geared to care for the environment such as the implementation of electric power and heat saving mechanisms, a waste water treatment plant, waste separation, and water-free machine rooms.

This plant contributes to the wellbeing of the community through programs such as the one called Buen Vecino (Good Neighbor). In recent years it has implemented projects like the rehabilitation of peasant walkways, the conditioning of sports areas and the installation of an outdoors gym, thus directly benefitting those who live or work in the area.

In 2011 and 2012, Bimbo San Luis was recognized with the Quality Award granted by the Government of the State of San Luis and has received the Industria Limpia (Clean Industry) and Smoke-Free certifications among others.

“It has been over two decades of taking the freshness and quality of our products to the families of San Luis Potosí. Years of tradition, hard work and effort, thanks to which we have been favored with the acceptance and acknowledgement of our consumers and customers, positioning Bimbo San Luis as a first level productive center and an important employment source and factor of growth for the State,” stated Miguel Ángel Espinoza, President of Bimbo en México.

Mr. Gustavo Puente Orozco congratulated Bimbo San Luis for its 25th anniversary and added, “I congratulate you. You are a great example as a family and as a company in regards to everything that our State must be striving for.”

Grupo Bimbo reaffirms its commitment with San Luis Potosí and will continue working with energy and optimism in order to reach the goals set, seeking to be a highly productive and deeply humane company.
