Grupo Bimbo commemorates the 50th anniversary of the Bimbo Hermosillo Plant

The plant has six production lines elaborating 1,800 tons monthly supplying, mainly, the regional market.

Grupo Bimbo, leading company in the baking and food industry with a 70-year trajectory, celebrated the 50th anniversary of its Bimbo Plant in Hermosillo, Sonora, with the presence of Claudia Pavlovich Arellano, Governess of the State of Sonora; Jorge Vidal Ahumada, Secretary of the Economy of the State of Sonora; Manuel Ignacio Acosta Gutiérrez, Municipal President of Hermosillo; Javier González Franco, Grupo Bimbo Senior Executive Vice-President; Miguel Ángel Espinoza Ramírez, President of Bimbo México.

Inaugurated in March 1966, this plant started operations with three production lines and 80 associates to serve the region’s customers and consumers opening new markets. Currently, the plant generates 1,165 direct jobs and has six lines that produce 1,800 monthly tons of products of the highest quality and freshness, almost entirely destined to supply the regional market through 13 sales centers and over 500 distribution routes.

As part of the commitment with the environment, over the years, Bimbo Hermosillo has incorporated sustainability measures, such as the installation of a waste water treatment plant, conversions to support electric and thermal power savings, as well as the implementation of an oil filtering system. Furthermore, it has been certified as Industria Limpia (Clean Industry) by PROFEPA, Federal Attorney's Office for Environmental Protection (Procuraduría Federal de Protección al Ambiente), and received the Licencia Ambiental Integral (Environmental Comprehensive Management License) issued by the Ecology and Sustainable Development Commission (CEDES, for its acronym in Spanish. Comisión de Ecología y Desarrollo Sustentable) of the State of Sonora.

During the ceremony, Javier González Franco, Grupo Bimbo Senior Executive Vice-President commented: “This plant, the fourth inaugurated by Bimbo, was strategically chosen to satisfy an increasingly demanding regional market. Today, 50 years later we still accompany the State of Sonora in its economic development, as we have done since 1966.”

As for Claudia Pavlovich Arellano, the Governess of the State Sonora, she congratulated the Company for its first 50 years in the entity, and recognized the associates’ work and the teamwork to attain success.

Grupo Bimbo reaffirms its commitment to the families in Sonora and assures that the Company will keep on working with energy and optimism to achieve the goals set, seeking to be a highly productive and deeply humane company.
