In celebration of the World Day for Safety and Health at Work, Grupo Bimbo ratifies its commitment, to its associates and to society, to continue moving towards its purpose of building a sustainable, highly productive, and fully humane enterprise, where people are at the center of its philosophy.

Bimbo has become a benchmark in occupational safety and health. It was the first company in the private sector to register all of its plants in Mexico to the Ministry of Labor and Social Security’s (STPS) Empresa Segura (Safe Company) program, which recognizes organizations that implement preventive measures to safeguard their employees, reduce accidents and diseases, comply with safety and health regulations, and adhere to national and international standards.

Other actions and results that the world's largest breadmaker has achieved in this area are:

SAFETY AT WORK

• Since 2006, Bimbo Mexico has participated in the STPS Self-Management in Health and Safety at Work Program.

• 10 Bimbo Mexico places of work have received the Empresa Segura certification from the STPS. Recently, five were recognized in the state of Nuevo Leon.

• Bimbo has an accident rate below the metric that determines the STPS and the goal is to continue reducing it.

ROAD SAFETY

• In the last 6 years, Grupo Bimbo has delivered more than 1.1 million hours of training to drivers through workshops and conferences on road safety.

• More than 21,600 Grupo Bimbo associates in Mexico have been recognized in the last 7 years by the ANTP for its good performance and more than 60 have accessed the Hall of Fame for 25 years or more without traffic accidents.

• Grupo Bimbo was the first company in Mexico to certify its comprehensive road safety model in the ISO 39001 Road Safety Management System, as well as the Supervision System of the metropolitan region.

ASSOCIATE WELLBEING

• Campaigns for the prevention of serious and seasonal diseases are constantly being implemented.

• The company has been certified for balanced dining rooms in its different workplaces in Mexico.

• Grupo Bimbo associates have spaces for physical activity within their places of work.

• In Mexico, Grupo Bimbo promotes the Vivo Sano #EsporMí program, which motivates employees to adopt healthy lifestyles. In 2017, 23,000 people participated.

• In addition, the company provides services to prevent diseases, such as anthropometric measurements and physical condition tests, as well as medical examinations for employees over 40 years of age.

"Since our foundation more than 70 years ago, people have always been our priority and the most important thing for the company. Therefore, we are committed at all times to offer safe and healthy work environments, always adhering to the highest local and international standards,” added Miguel Ángel Espinoza Ramírez, Director General of Bimbo México.

It should be noted that Grupo Bimbo was included for the second consecutive year in the list of the "Most Ethical Companies in the World, 2018" by The Ethisphere Institute, positioning it as the only one in Mexico to receive such recognition.
